British-Ghanaian rapper and songwriter, ShaSimone marks her first solo release of 2023, ‘Played Out’.
Having collaborated with Kwengface on ‘Pop’ at the end of April and nearing on 60,000 streams alone, she shows no signs of slowing down, known for her consistency and commitment to creating quality music ‘Played Out’ is no different, showcasing her turbulent flow over a dark and heavy grime infused production, showing off ShaSimone’s talent as a MC, with her slick bravado she glides over the beat with ease and wit.
Sha Simone initially burst into mainstream attention after an uncredited appearance on number 1 album ‘We’re All Alone In This Together’ on Mercury Prize-winning Dave’s collaboration with James Blake ‘Both Sides Of A Smile’, sitting pretty with nearly 33 million streams, since then her career has gone from strength to strength with releases such as ‘SCHWEET’ featuring fellow East Londoner Suspect OTB and solo releases such as ‘Lock Off’ and ‘Thug Affection’.
Her debut EP SIMMA DOWN released late last year made it hard to not to pay attention to her. Sha Simone’s sound is an addictive blend of hip hop and UK rap, often with a nod to her Ghanaian heritage.
Speaking on ‘Played Out’ she says “I just really want people to know that I’m committed to releasing quality music and being consistent in my craft. I’ve learned so much from my last EP and Played Out is just the beginning of what’s coming next.”
Recognisable by her versatile coffee-soaked vocals and skillful wordplay, Sha Simone is ready to take over and make 2023 hers.
