Accumulating over 1 million views on TikTok with a car freestyle, Lil Shakz’s versatility, punchlines and expert flows are earning him a one-to-watch status.
Growing up in a musical household, it was inevitable that Lil Shakz would one day follow in the same footsteps as his parents. Witnessing his Dad and Uncle fulfill their dream of being artists, he would spend hours listening to their old mixtapes, watching music videos and seeing them receive rightful respect throughout the community for what they were able to achieve for the UK’s rap scene. Pushing his passion for dancing aside after a tragic car accident, the London native started putting pen to paper and working on his musical craft as early as 10-years-old.
Noting Stormzy, Dave, Krept & Konan, Section Boyz, M Dot, and Showkey as early musical influences, Lil Shakz was able to develop his own sound and sharpen his pen game after studying their artistry. Freestyling with his friends on the playground, he grew the confidence to start uploading them onto YouTube. Later facing challenges in Secondary School from other kids who would bully him for his craft, he turned their rage into fuel, and began posting freestyles onto Instagram between 12-13 years old.
When asked what words would best describe his versatile catalogue so far, Lil Shakz listed vibrant, energetic, lit and inspiring. Posing as the youngest artist to have won Link Up TV’s Pen Game Rap Battle series in 2021 against opponents 5 years older than him, he also featured in the Hardest U18’s Cypher with BL@CKBOX [1:24]. Housing a catalogue that boasts over 460,000 streams on Spotify alone in 2024 with fan favourite “Minimal Things” that went viral
across social media as well as “Pop Up” that featured on his 2023 project ‘Tunnel Vision’, Lil Shakz is gearing up supporters for an exciting year of releases ahead.
