UK Rap heavyweights Krept & Konan release their highly anticipated fourth studio album Young Kingz II via their independent label, Play Dirty today, alongside the music video for focus track ‘Kilimanjaro’ featuring Nigerian superstar Oxlade.
Young Kingz II is more than a follow-up to their 2013 breakout mixtape Young Kingz, which remains a cornerstone
of UK music history as the highest-charting album by an unsigned act. This album chronicles the life-defining moments of Krept & Konan’s journey since then. A deeply personal project, recorded largely in Jamaica to honour
their heritage, it embodies their evolution while staying rooted in their origins.
“Young Kingz 2 is more than just an album it’s a reflection of everything we’ve been through and where we’re at now
– it’s a full circle moment for us. This album is all about growth. We’ve poured our hearts into it – to all the supporters
who’ve been with us from the start — this one’s for you” Krept & Konan
The album features an impressive roster of collaborators, including Jamaican icons Sizzla and Popcaan, UK rap
heavyweights Chip, Potter Payper, Ghetts, Youngs Teflon, and actors Michael Ward and Damson Idris. It also
incorporates a poignant sample of Konan’s father, Reggae legend Delroy Wilson.
Following the recent release of Krept’s ‘Nala’s Song’ and Konan’s ‘Delroy’s Son’ the tone has been set for an album
rooted in introspection, growth and set to be Krept & Konan’s most personal project to date. Tracks ‘Smooth
Lovin’ ft Popcaan, Low Vibrations and teaser solo freestyles; ‘Daily Duppy: New Snap City FT Chip’, from Krept; and
Konan’s Last Night In Kingston; have built excitement and provoked a huge response, reaffirming their undisputed
status as ‘UK rap royalty’.
Blending Afrobeats, Dancehall, Grime, and Hip Hop, Young Kingz II delves into deeply personal themes – PTSD,
therapy, fatherhood, grief, loss, and systemic injustice. It’s a bold and poignant statement, re-cementing Krept & Konan’s legacy as voices of resilience and authenticity in British music.
Young Kingz II marks Krept & Konan’s first album since top-5 charting Revenge Is Sweet, a project which cemented
their place in music history as UK rap royalty and saw them become the first British rap act to headline the O2
London. It also follows the duo’s equally ground-breaking 2017 release of 7 DAYS and 7 NIGHTS, which saw them
become the first act ever to have two mixtapes simultaneously enter the Top 10 of the Official UK Albums chart, and their 2015 debut album The Long Way Home which debuted at no. 2 on The Official UK Albums Chart, becoming the highest charting British Rap album in UK chart history.
Krept & Konan are trailblazers in the UK rap scene, and have a reputation for repeatedly breaking records and
consistently breaking ground. ‘Young Kingz II’ is poised to be yet another milestone in Krept & Konan’s unstoppable
career. As unapologetic pioneers in UK hip-hop, they continue to push boundaries and set new benchmarks in British
music.
