‘Tell Nobody’ follows on from her viral hit ‘Waste My Time’ which accumulated over 20 Million Streams and is an up-tempo track that takes inspiration from the sound of the 00s and features synths and, delivered by Essosa in her distinct 00s style.

Speaking on ‘Tell Nobody’ Essosa explains.

“I was in the studio with Powerz and the piano loop sounded so cute… he started programming the beat and it made me want to dance, I was dancing across the studio and humming melodies until I eventually wrote the entire song. The track is about a guy I met at a rooftop party last year, we had a little crush on each other, and we wanted to link up but it was a little complicated, after much deliberation, we decided to link up anyway but kept it secret, hence the title ‘Tell Nobody’. The vibe and style of the song was very much inspired by Janet Jackson’s ‘All for You’ and Kelis’s ‘Flashback’. I just wanted to make a track that that everyone could dance to but also wanted it to come from a personal place”.

The sultry yet colorful visuals, shot by Melody Berkery take us back to the ultimate house party, with Essosa and her pals and dancing and having fun. Layering her distinct vocals over the 00’s style melody. Watch the video HERE.

Having been selected as Soundcloud’s Ascending Star for July 2023; an accolade previously awarded to Strandz and singer/songwriter Kenya Grace, Essosa with her ever-growing fanbase, consistently strives to deliver something fresh yet nostalgic to the music scene and there’s only more to come from this rising superstar.

About Essosa:

Born in East London to Nigerian parents, 22-year-old Essosa spent her early years in Toronto. Her first experience of music was via her parent’s love of gospel and jazz music, inspiring her to take up singing at church. She learned to play the piano at the age of 3 and began songwriting at 8 years old. Expanding her musical preferences into pop and hip-hop, she was inspired by the likes of Gwen Stefani, Janet Jackson, Mary J Blige, Erykah Badu, and Amy Winehouse. Defying her parents’ suggestions to focus solely on academia, Essosa poured her energy into music and dance throughout school and university, using the recording facilities at local youth centers to lay down demos. It was while recording at college that she met the producer Ryan Price, who invited her to lend her supple vocals to his 2020 single ‘When Said and Done’ and to collaborate in sessions with The Strokes’ producer Gordon Raphael, inspiring her to seek out a producer of her own who could best interpret her sound
