ML Ft Giggs – ”Own Motion” Remix

Giggs Steps onto Son ML’s “Own Motion” in Remix Exploring Legacy, Autism, Self-Discovery and Walking Your Own Path

Thursday 17 July, London, UK – UK rap legend Giggs steps onto the remix of “Own Motion”, a standout track by his son, rising South London rapper ML, for a powerful and deeply personal moment in British music. Released independently via ML’s own label Motion Mvmt, the remix is produced by Josh Roach and brought to life with a bold, cinematic video available to watch/ share from 4PM BST today HERE.

Originally written and released by ML, “Own Motion” is an introspective track that explores his experience as an autistic artist, bringing a rare and authentic voice to the UK rap landscape. ML’s openness about his diagnosis also had a profound effect at home. His willingness to speak publicly inspired his father, Giggs, to reflect on his own life -which eventually led to Giggs discovering that he, too, is autistic. That personal revelation adds deep emotional resonance to this remix, transforming it from a creative collaboration into a generational moment of mutual understanding and respect.

ML says: “’Own Motion’ is a song for people doing their thing – motioning and not watching anyone else because we’re leaders. This is a remix with my dad Giggs. He also has his own motion, and he knew he would slide effortlessly on this beat with class, which is exactly what he’s done.”

Stepping onto the remix of the track, Giggs joins his son with the weight of experience and the clarity of self-awareness. The result is a dialogue between two artists – and two men – connected by both blood and truth.

The “Own Motion” remix sees ML move with piercing self-awareness, as he reclaims his autism with pride and defiance: “When I was young, I was ashamed / Now I just own it / Autistic but I still got your bitch moaning.” He then delivers one of the song’s most emotional moments, paying tribute to his father: “I told Pops, Dad I’m proud to be your son / Real always win, I always knew you’d be the one.” Giggs responds with rare vulnerability – “Separately son, I really wanna tell you that it’s really been a pleasure” – expressing heartfelt pride in ML’s growth, before grounding the track in his signature grit: “Sweat and tears and blood on my mic / And these yutes wanna snake man for likes,” a nod to his legacy, resilience, and hard-won wisdom.

ML has been steadily carving out his own lane in the UK underground, with a unique style that blends sharp lyricism, abstract flair, and emotional honesty. Following his self-released It’s Clobbering Time mixtape he’s built a reputation for raw storytelling and left-field creativity. “Own Motion” continues that trajectory, offering a fearless exploration of identity and independence, delivered with a voice that feels both urgent and unfiltered.

Fresh from a headline-making interview on BBC Newsnight, where he called out the lack of support for autistic children in schools, Giggs’ contribution to the remix adds real-world weight to the record. His verse is not just lyrical – it’s political and personal.

“Own Motion (Remix)” is more than just a musical collaboration – it’s a statement of legacy, vulnerability, and independence. It’s a song about finding your voice and owning it – whether you’re at the beginning of your journey or decades into it, with the accompanying music video adding another layer of depth, as it captures the generational handover, the shared pride, and the quiet strength of their bond.

Independent in spirit and structure, “Own Motion (Remix)” pushes ML’s vision forward while underscoring Giggs’ long-standing impact on the scene. And with Giggs set to headline his landmark Giggs & Family show at Somerset House on 20 July, fans are already hoping that this powerful collaboration might make its way to the live stage – a rare opportunity to witness father and son share their moment in real time.
