SHY FX & MR. WILLIAMZ RELEASE NEW COLLABORATIVE EP RUDEBOY DESIGN SOUNDTAPE
THE DRUM & BASS LEGEND TEAMS UP WITH MR. WILLIAMZ, CONTINUING TO CEMENT HIS INFLUENCE IN DANCE MUSIC
Andre Williams, famously known as Shy FX, a trailblazer and
innovator within the UK drum& bass and jungle scenes, drops his highly-anticipated collaborative EP, Rudeboy Design Soundtape, alongside Mr. Williamz, following
previously released singles “Dance Haffi Nice (feat. Ms. Dynamite)”, “Gideon’s Charge (feat. KINGH)” and “Shebeen (feat. Breakage)”.
The project releases via Shy FX’s very own imprint, Digital Sound Boy, alongside lead single “Firetime”. One of the most beloved British music icons from the last few decades, Shy FX, continues to show why he is widely accepted as one of the most iconic DJ/producers emanating from these shores with his brand new, ten-track project spanning classic D&B sounds, as well as jungle and dancehall.
From the hard-hitting bass kicks of “Gideon’s Charge” to the more melodic notes of lead single, “Firetime” the EP flits between full soundtracks and a series of effective interludes, capped off with Mr. Williamz’ innate lyricism. With key features from the likes of legendary singer Ms Dynamite and DJ/producer Breakage, Rudeboy Design Soundtape further cements Shy’s legacy as one of the most important electronic artists this country has to offer.
Following his monumental closing set at Brockwell Park’s Project 6 during the May Bank Holiday weekend, Shy FX will now be embarking on a slew of tour dates across summer including Glastonbury and special shows at Parklife and Boomtown, which will see special guests join him on stage.
Accompanying the project are visuals directed by acclaimed creative Fenn O’Meally, known for her collaborations with high-profile artists and brands such as Kendrick Lamar, Louis Vuitton, and Jorja Smith. The video’s cinematic quality underscores the track’s profound narrative and Shy FX’s artistic vision.
From the seminal, groundbreaking “Original Nuttah” to “Roll The Dice”, Shy FX has cemented himself as a true trailblazer within the UK music scene. The Londoner has worked with the likes of T Power, both as Ebony Dubsters and Shy FX and T Power, but most notably for their 2001 mainstream breakthrough “Shake Ur Body”, reaching #7 in the UK charts. He produced “Raver” featuring Kano, Donae’o and Roses
Gabor, as well as 2019’s “Roll The Dice” ft. Lily Allen and a rare feature from model Cara Delevingne. In terms of producing for other artists, Shy was on the buttons for
“Da Feelin” for Dizzee Rascal’s 2007 album Maths + English,as well as “Can’t Tek No More” on the rapper’s 2009 album, Tongue N’ Cheek. When it comes to remixes,
Shy FX is in a league of his own, clocking remix work forPlan B’s “She Said” —peaking at #3 in the UK Charts and providing his trademark Re-Edit of DJ Fresh’s
smash hit “Gold Dust”.
