Afro*disiac Live Radio is proud to announce receiving a £10,000 grant from The National Lottery Community Fund. This generous funding will further support and expand our Free Community Radio and DJ Workshops, a program empowering young people aged 11 to 18 with essential broadcasting and DJing skills.
Launched in 2021, these workshops have become a vital platform for youth to explore the world of community radio, podcasting, and DJing. The initiative introduces participants to foundational radio production and performance techniques while building confidence, creativity, and teamwork.
Now running every Tuesday to Thursday from 4 PM to 6 PM, the workshops allow for consistent, in-depth learning in small group settings of up to six participants, ensuring tailored instruction and hands-on engagement.
Workshop Highlights Include:
- Radio Skills: Learn about the evolution and impact of radio, explore diverse career paths in media, develop digital production and interviewing skills, practice radio etiquette, create scripts, and produce live-style shows.
- DJ Skills: Get hands-on with professional DJ equipment, craft personal DJ sets, dig into our extensive music library, record sessions for feedback and growth, and receive expert advice on gear.
This new funding will allow us to grow the program’s reach, offering even more young creatives the chance to dive into music and media, gain practical skills, and express themselves in a supportive, inclusive environment.
