“I know how hard it is to pull yourself out of a love situation that doesn’t work anymore,” FAVE shares. “I hope people relate to the stories in these songs. I hope it’s a wake-up call to know when to let go. And when you reach that point, put on this EP.”
“FAVE is a force of nature whose talent is limitless,” says Bad Habit co-founders Kirk Harding and Matthew “Baus” Adesuyan. “Bad Habit is built on nurturing phenomenal artists and empowering them to share their gifts with the world. Together, we are looking forward to reaching new heights with FAVE.”
Not allowing the weight of toxic love to hold her down, DUTTY LOVE is a razor-sharp exploration of past relationships and the trials and tribulations of friendships. It’s been a whirlwind year for the rising star as she skilfully juggles the demands of finishing her Law degree while finalising her most vulnerable project. FAVE, also known as Big Dutty Girl FAVE, has emerged as the embodiment of authenticity, and this project captures the 24-year-old artist in her most genuine form. The songstress has been setting the tone all year with her recent singles Controlla and No Games, both of which have quickly become fan favourites and are now featured as part of the highly anticipated EP.
FAVE’s (derived from her real name, God’sFavour) minute-long Twitter videos took the music community in her homeland by storm during the early days of lockdown, marking the birth of a star. As the middle child of three siblings, she has spent the past two decades living in Eastern and South-Western Nigeria, beginning her musical journey at six. Before her internet fame in 2020, FAVE was studying and has just completed pursuing a degree in Law. As her songs gained popularity, attending school became increasingly challenging, prompting FAVE to adopt various disguises to blend in. Musically, FAVE is a versatile artist who has dabbled in Dancehall, Afropop, Afrobeats , Dance, and R&B, considering herself a “no genre” girl. Her poetic lyrics often stem from an opening line, with the rest of the story unfolding naturally. She skillfully conveys vulnerability and courage in her music, blending a range of emotions into high-tempo drum progressions. In 2022, just months after her chart-topping debut hit “Baby Riddim” taken from her debut EP, FAVE won the “Rookie of the Year” award at the Headies. She also received multiple nominations for “Best New Artist” and “Most Promising Artist at the Afrima Awards and Soundcity Music Awards, solidifying her status as a rising star in the music industry. In the same year, FAVE received numerous accolades, including recognition as one of BET x Nissan’s Afrobeats Up Next stars, Spotify’s Equal Africa Ambassador, Apple Music’s ‘One To Watch,’ and one of Audiomack’s ‘African Artists to Watch Out For.’
