DJ OBI today releases his infectious new single “Take Me Away”.
Already at the forefront of the music industry as a record-breaking, international DJ and pioneer of the burgeoning nightlife scene coming out of Africa with his world-renowned club night OBI’s House – an incubator and launchpad for some of the biggest hits coming out of Nigeria and the continent.
Bringing a breezy, uplifting and tropical sound in time for the summer party season, “Take Me Away” melds Afro House and Afropop with addictive percussions and a palpable, rhythmic bass.
The song is brought together with smooth, honey-textured vocals from Nigerian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ayanfe and Kenyan Afropop vocalist BIEN (Sauti Soul) – showcasing some of the most vibrant talent from across Africa and inviting you to let go of your inhibitions, dance until the sun comes up and allow the music to just take you away.

Born in Minnesota USA and bred in Lagos, Nigeria and DJ OBI started his DJ career at a young age and 17 years in has made a name for himself as one of the most sought-after and versatile DJs around the world, mastering genres from House and EDM to R&B Hip-Hop, R&B, Afrobeats and Amapiano.
In 2016 he broke the Guinness World Record for the longest DJ set by playing for 240 hours over a 10-day period and as an international DJ has worked with some of the biggest brands and events – notably, last year he DJ’d at the MET Gala and Casablanca Paris Fashion Week after-parties – and on stage with global stars such a Davido, Burna Boy and Tiwa Savage.
Borne out of the lockdown of 2020/21 and subsequently taken to a physical venue, DJ Obi’s weekly roadblock event Obi’s House has not only become one of the biggest events on the Lagos nightlife scene – regularly attracting over 2,000 partygoers each Monday night and some of the music industry’s best-known stars such as Wizkid, Tems, Ayra Starr and Skepta – but also a crucial launchpad for new music coming out of Nigeria and from across the Continent, acting as a vital, cultural incubator and bridge between Nigerian underground scenes and the mainstream.
This summer will see DJ OBI taking Obi’s House on tour across the world, giving the globe his unique taste of Lagos with dates in London at the end of June (June 30th at E1), July and August and more dates to be announced across Europe, the Caribbean and the USA
