About us
Afro*Disiac Live Radio CIC is a Not-for-Profit organisation based in Bournemouth (Dorset). It exists as a bridge to provide diverse cultural enrichment to the Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch Communities and beyond through the love of music.
The Radio Station was born in 2007 by Raymond Nyenje and Sula Kasujja, both DJs by profession with Black ethnic minority background. Their motivation was to foster Afro Caribbean DJ’s, music and artists giving them an online music platform to perform and play their music to the public. What inspires you the most to continue today?
Today all programming is created and produced by 10 volunteer DJs and presenters. Five of them have been with the radio station since it started. They help run daily activities, such as administration, streaming and creating content; they also present live and recorded shows. Volunteering accounts for up to 30 hours of support a week.
Our vision is to bring Joy, Happiness, Love and Peace through the love of good music to the communities we serve and beyond. We facilitate unlocking potential that will make a difference in our community in all that we do, from our workshops with young people to our radio station to our award-winning Reggae Weekender events. We aim to create unique opportunities for people to come together to learn about and celebrate the diverse African Caribbean culture and see this come alive under the banner of reggae music, writing poetry and lyrics, music production.
We aim to inspire, empower and encourage our communities through the love of good music; giving opportunities to unlock potential via our DJ, Radio, Events and Consumer relationship systems, whilst we partner with like-minded organisations such as YEP Youth Empowerment Platform and Soundstorm Music Agency , to make a difference globally. We combine the very best traditions of our profession with a modern approach supported by technology to give a comprehensive service.
