JayO – ”Hue”

FOCUS TRACK ‘TURNING ME ON’

Following a breakout year and the success of his debut EP WHOSDAT, British-Nigerian artist JayO returns with ‘Hue’, a four-track project released via 0207 Def Jam.

The announcement follows JayO’s recent release “Turning Me On”, released earlier this month. Sampling Marques Houston’s Clubbin’, the track has already made waves across playlists and airwaves, praised for its nostalgic appeal and slick modern execution. “They played Clubbin’ and the rest was history,” JayO recalls of the session with production duo Sons of Sonix.

Rooted in the vibrant spectrum of summer, ‘Hue’ captures the shifting moods of the season: from high-energy nights to laid-back afternoons. “My aim was to explore music with colour to give different Summer feelings,” JayO shares. The title draws on the definition of hue as pure, vivid pigments – a fitting metaphor for the bold, emotionally rich palette this EP offers.

The EP arrives alongside a video for “Attendance”; a high-tempo Afro-house-inspired cut designed to move bodies and lift spirits. Produced by JayO alongside RZ and YogiTheProducer, it’s pure energy: bright, urgent and infectious.

Also included is “Baby Girl”, a sultry, club-ready blend of afroswing, R&B and dancehall, featuring interpolations of Gyptian’s Hold Yuh. Co-written with Windel Edwards (Gyptian) and Wretch 32, the track is an instant summer classic – familiar yet current.

On the smoother side, “Pure Water” brings a more intimate, late-night feel. With production from JayO, RZ and Juice Cuice. It is textured, sexy and effortlessly melodic – perfect for a long drive on a slow summer’s day.

Born and raised in North London with deep Nigerian roots, JayO has built a reputation for genre-fluid, emotionally resonant music that spans R&B, Afrobeats, grime, and beyond. Whether lending his vocals to tracks by SPINALL and Destin Conrad, or performing at Paris’s Fête de la Musique festival, his presence continues to grow on both sides of the Atlantic..

With ‘Hue’, JayO adds another bold chapter to his catalogue – a tight, focused EP that’s bursting with rhythm, colour and feeling.

‘Hue’ is available now on all major streaming platforms.
